Birthday Dresses

I've been MIA this week. Blame my paper & exam! Going back to school while working full-time isn't easy as it may seems.
Below are a two dresses I've fallen in love with. I have a week to find a dress for my birthday.

What makes you happy?

As I sit here staring at my computer screen I realize I left the kitchen light on and I'll have to get up again to turn it off. I didn't heat my tea up enough and now it's slightly cold. I'm staring at the clock realizing it's almost 11:30pm and I should be in bed. The vain side of me is hoping my bangs dry nicely so I don't have to wear them off my face tomorrow. I wasted hours doing "nothing" on the computer when I could've been studying or painting. The entire time I've been thinking/doing these things.. I couldn't stop thinking "what makes YOU happy". This is a good thing to ask yourself to keep yourself in check (& if you live in LA you HAVE to keep yourself in check!).

- Yoga. It's the only time when I get to turn my brain off and I attempt to stress less.

- My family. They aren't perfect but they're mine & I love them.

- My friends. One of my biggest blessings in life have been the amazing friendships I have formed with these amazing people.

- Painting/Getting creative/baking

- Drinking tea. It's a recent addiction but with every sip is pure heaven.

20 ?'s to ask yourself

My friend showed me this today. It's very interesting!

“To forgive is the highest, most beautiful form of love. In return, you will receive untold peace and happiness.”

Daily fix: Tea

It seems when you quit one habit you pick up another. I cut back my soda intake and quit smoking this year. In doing that I picked up another habit. I'm still trying to figure out how I got hooked on tea. I've always preferred it to coffee but for some reason I'm hooked. I drink it all day at work and when I'm home I'm drinking it. After 7pm all caffeine is cut out and decaf & sleepytime tea it is. It works out for me because I hate drinking water (i'm weird).

I always see these teas and I want to try/buy them. One day!! (The republic of tea)

This is the tea I drink at work constantly. The white tea added to it adds a certain zing to it! Tasty!

Perfect for bedtime!

Soo many flavors it's hard to choose

You can help!!

Imagine your life changing in 45 seconds. Imagine the home you've come to love, car, the materialistic objects that you love are completely gone or ruined. You can't call anyone because the power lines are down. You aren't sure if your friends and family are still living. That's what happened to the people in Haiti. Their lives were forever changed by an earthquake that lasted 45 seconds.

I understand money is tight for everyone these days but if you're able to pay for groceries, go out with friends for a drink, etc. You're able to donate $10 or $5 dollars.

Text Haiti to 90999 to donate $10 to the Red Cross (it will show up on next month's bill).

Text Yele to 501501 to donate $5 to relief efforts in Haiti (This is Wyclef Jean's Charity)

Put yourself in their shoes for a minute. Wouldn't you appreciate someone doing this for you?

I'm a fan of sales (aren't most women?). I enjoy having nice clothes but I can't always afford it. The Gap & Banana Republic are having great online sales right. Below are a few pieces that I liked. Remember, when you're online shopping always take a quick browse through the sale section. You never know what kind of deal you'll find!

Always remember...

that you're beautiful, talented, special, etc. Don't ever let anybody tell you differently. Nobody is perfect
and we all tend to have our moments (that makes those around you want to run off scared or scream at you).
Just remember to be yourself and if someone doesn't like you for that.. there will be somebody else who will.
You deserve only the best & if you aren't getting the best then you don't need that person. I'm writing this because
I need to remember this when I get upset over friends, boys, etc.

Sweet Dreams xoxo

a dose of optimism

There comes a time when everyone needs a dose of optimism. This week I needed one. I can't make people like me, make them want to talk to me, make them respond, make them happy, etc. Hope you find these as inspiring as I do!

“Smile when it hurts most.”

“Trying to make someone fall in love with you is about as pointless as trying to control who you fall in love with.”

“Through humor, you can soften some of the worst blows that life delivers. And once you find laughter, no matter how painful your situation might be, you can survive it.” - Bill Cosby

“If you wait to do everything until you're sure it's right, you'll probably never do much of anything."

"I admit it's tempting to wish for the perfect boss - the perfect parent - or the perfect outfit. But maybe the best any of us can do is not quit, play the hand we've been dealt, and accessorize what we've got." - Sex and the City

"After a while, you just want to be with the one that makes you laugh." - Mr. Big (this one is my favorite)

Teacup Garden

I'm a fan of teacups but I could never think of anything "crafty" to do with them. This is perfect!! I will def. be stealing this idea!

Be prepared!

If you live in a state that is known for natural disasters like California you should always make a plan.
Since the earthquake hit Haiti it got me thinking what I should do be prepared for something like that.
Everyone should have an earthquake kit & be educated on what to do in the case of an earthquake.
Below is a link that I found helpful on what to include in your earthquake kit.

My current obsession is green tea. It's healthy, helps you lose weight & has caffeine in it.
My other obsession for bedtime.. sleepytime tea.

Nothing beats a hot bath while sipping sleepytime tea. I suggest everyone try it. Trust me.. you won't be disappointed!

“But the most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you can find someone to love the you you love, well, that's just fabulous.” - sex and the city

Just a thought..

I'll be the first to admit that I am not perfect. I have my moments of being moody, I get annoyed, & I have a hard time trying to relax (which can drive others around me crazy). For the most part I'm a pretty easy going, patient & compassionate person. I try to ignore certain things people do but when it becomes a regular habit it's annoying.

Forgetting Manners: From the time you could talk you were taught please & thank you. Just because we aren't in elementary school anymore and we don't have a teacher reminding us constantly to use these words doesn't mean it's okay not to use them! There's nothing more than music to my ears when I hear "Thank You".

Not texting/calling back: I'm the first one to admit I have a bad habit at times of calling people back or texting someone back. I sometimes fall asleep early and don't respond to texts. It's annoying to text/call someone and they don't respond. Sometimes certain texts don't need a response but sometimes it doesn't hurt to respond with something.. even if it's a "I'm busy. Can't talk". Even if you don't want to call someone back atleast get in touch with them & tell them you're busy or something. My ex-boyfriend used to do this to me all the time and everytime it happens to me it reminds me of that.. it's like nails on a chalkboard!

Being Honest: Ladies & Gentlemen, if you aren't interested in someone anymore be up front and let them know. Ignoring or (if you're in a relationship) Cheating behind their backs isn't okay. Sometimes people want the best of both worlds but in the end you wind up hurting someone. Just be honest it'll save a lot of tears/heartache :)

Patience: We've gotten soo used to everything coming quicker these days. (Fast Food, Buying movie tickets online, checking in for your plane online) People want a quick fix or a quick solution for something. If people were a little bit patient with everything people, relationships, etc. I think in the end you'd get a better result. Life is short.. stop and smell the roses!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

Grocery Lists

I find that when it comes to grocery shopping you have to be organized (especially if you're buying for more than one person). If you're a grocery shopper like I am you wind up going to a few stores in search of certain things & the best bargin. The worst is forgetting something at a certain store because you didn't write it down or didn't look at your list. Below is the most organized grocery list I have come across recently. My trips to Whole Foods, Trader Joes, Ralphs and Fresh & Easy will be a lot less complicated.

Flower Power

I'm not a huge flower person. I rarely buy them & I never understood getting flowers for a date. However, if I was surprised with flowers it probably would make my day. Below are a few flowers that I thought were beautiful.

Orchids

One of my favorites Bells of Ireland, green orchids, bear grass & seeded eucalyptus

Hydrangea

Another favorite: French Anemones, Lichen covered branches, Ranunculus, Yellow Cypress, Dusty Miller, pine cones, Astrantia, Seeded Eucalyptus, & Ranunculus buds.

A teepee over a sandbox? What an awesome idea! Makes me wish I was five again or have a five year old to play in this with me.

Looking at Oscar de la Renta's clothes makes me want to peel off the moose PJ pants & My Giants t-shirt i've been lounging around in & dress in something classier.

Wedding Bells

This couples wedding photos are just beautiful. Everything about their wedding seemed perfectly put together. I just found it visually appeasing.
